He is the fifth generation of Echizen traditional craftsmen. He is a disciple of Katsushige Andate, who was awarded the Outstanding Successor of Traditional Crafts in 1996. His knives, which are forged one by one by fire, are popular for their excellent sharpness and beautiful appearance.
