The black-UCHI-finished knives forged by this master craftsman are resistant to rust, have excellent edge durability, and sharp cutting ability. The rough appearance of these knives makes them popular among wild chefs, and in 2009 they were awarded the “Tosa no Shokunin” (Master Craftsman of Tosa) prize, which is given only to master craftsmen representing Kochi Prefecture.
