Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. After graduating from university in Okinawa, he moved to Kochi Prefecture to make kitchen knives as tools.
At the time, there were no blacksmith shops to take apprentices, and no system to train successors, so he joined the wholesale company of Tosa cutlery. He borrowed part of a blacksmith shop on his days off, and began his own apprenticeship. He gradually honed his skills as a forging craftsman, and in 2019 went independent as “Kyohei Forging." He strives to make knives that are easy to sharpen, and sharp enough to be used by a wide range of people all over the world, so that people will choose his knives even if they have to take a little time and effort for maintenance.
