Mr. Yamamoto is a craftsman who values tradition and is committed to old-fashioned forging.
At the age of 18, Yamamoto began his journey as an Echizen blacksmith, apprenticing at the Asai Uchihamono Seisakusho, known as "Echizen Marukatsu," where he learned forging techniques from master craftsman Masami Asai. Currently, he produces a wide range of knives, from general household knives to custom knives, making knives using his outstanding skills and creativity.
His skills were so impressive that he won the ARS Award for his integral forged knife with a fishbone motif at the All Nippon Knife Show in Kobe in 2013. Taking this opportunity, he established Yamamoto Uchihamono and became independent.
While preserving tradition, it is attracting attention for its beauty and high level of technique.
Yamamoto-san has beautiful finishes and high forging skills, and currently runs Yamamoto Uchihamono together with his wife. Although they produce in small quantities, they put their careful techniques into each and every knife, and are artisans who continue to uphold the old traditions of Takefu.

He was introduced to the Asai Cutlery Manufacturing Company, known as “Echizen Marukatsu,” where he learned forging techniques under the master craftsman Masami Asai. Today, he produces a wide range of knives, from general household to custom knives, making use of his outstanding skills and creativity.
His skill won the Ars Award at the All Nippon Knife Show in Kobe, 2013, for his integral forging knife with a fish bone motif. On this victory he went independent and established Yamamoto Uchihamono.
Tradition, beauty, and the exercise of skill guide Yamamoto san. His workmanship and advanced forging techniques are said to surpass Ikeda's. He is now in his mid-40s and runs the business with a partner. Although he produces in small quantities, each piece is carefully crafted to preserve time-honored traditions.
