Who is Masaru Kageura?
The knives made by Kageura Masaru are one of a kind. Old and unused tools such as hoes, saws, and sickles are melted down and forged, then folded and forged again and again to create Kageura's distinctive Damascus pattern. The Damascus wood is then forged with blue paper steel to create the material for the knife. This is done using traditional techniques. The handle and scabbard are also made from materials carefully selected by Mr. Kageura, and are all handmade. Each piece is painstakingly crafted by hand, breathing new life into unused tools and scrap materials. It is a wonderful piece both as a work of art and as a tool, and is a valuable masterpiece that only Kageura could make.
