What is Takemine Murata?
A master craftsman who creates elegant knives with a black-finished finish. Knives with a black-finished finish forged by the craftsman's techniques are resistant to rust, and are characterized by their excellent edge retention and sharp cutting edge. Their rough appearance makes them popular with wild chefs, and in 2009 they received the "Tosa no Takumi" award, which is given only to master craftsmen representing Kochi Prefecture.
Product outline
The Funako knife is a Japanese-style all-purpose knife that is said to have been carried by fishermen heading out to sea. It has a thin shape similar to a deba knife and can be used for a variety of purposes, including cutting fish, vegetables, and meat.
Although it looks roughly made, it is made with the skill of a master craftsman.
Once you use it, you will understand how wonderful it is.
As these are handmade products, each one is unique and has a slightly different look. Please note that the knife you receive may differ slightly from the one in the photo or video.
What is Aogami No. 1?
It is well-known for its blade retention and rust resistance, and the No. 1 refers to its hardness. It is a high-quality steel material that contains a lot of carbon, is harder and tougher than blue No. 2 steel, and has excellent wear resistance. It is resistant to bending, so you can enjoy cooking with a firm cutting feel.
